Yesterday I went to the library. With the dogs waiting in the car and the clouds getting darker and darker in the sky, I rushed straight to the checkout desk to return some DVDs and borrow the ones ready for pickup, without paying any attention to my surroundings. One of the librarians greeted me, checked in the DVDs I'd brought back, and got up to bring the ones waiting for me. I stood there watching her search through the hold shelf when something caught my eye and brought my focus to the rolling bookcase right in front of me. Languages & Life Lessons sat on the top shelf, waiting to be returned to its regular location. It made me slow down, take a breath, and enjoy my present moment. I smiled at the thought that someone had borrowed my book. After getting my DVDs, I said goodbye and turned around to leave when I saw Reflections displayed on the shelf where new books reside for a while. Who knew a three-minute visit to the library could feel so magically motivating?
